TJR Electrical & Renewables LTD
Trusted Local Solar PV Installers – Recommended Through the Octopus Trusted Partner Programme.
Independent companies selected, vetted and monitored by Octopus Energy against safety, quality and customer service standards. Not Octopus employees.
TJR Electrical & Renewables LTD was founded in 2019 by our director, Tom Richardson, originally as a one-person electrical company. What started as a small local business quickly evolved as Tom’s interest in renewable energy grew — and soon became the heart of everything we do.
As demand increased and our expertise deepened, we realigned our services to specialise in solar PV and battery storage installations. Over the years we’ve invested heavily in our training, qualifications and compliance, achieving MCS certification, TrustMark accreditation, and full competency across both solar and battery technologies.
Today, we remain committed to the same principles that guided us from day one:
high-quality installations,
fair and transparent pricing, and
putting our customers first.
Our reputation reflects this — our reviews consistently highlight our workmanship, communication, and attention to detail.
A message from our director, Tom
“When I started the business, I didn’t imagine I would transition from general electrical work into the renewable sector — but it’s genuinely addictive. I’m a self-confessed renewable-energy nerd, and my passion lies in designing and fine-tuning systems that squeeze the most from every single watt of energy generated. I love helping customers get more from their system long after the sun has gone down.”
TJR Electrical & Renewables LTD is now a trusted, specialist installer serving homes across Norfolk — combining technical expertise with a personal, down-to-earth approach.

Our Services
-
A solar-only installation is ideal if you’re home during the day or use most of your electricity during sunlight hours. It’s the most cost-effective starting point for going solar, allowing you to make direct use of the energy your panels generate as it’s produced. There’s no on-site storage with this option, meaning unused energy won’t be stored for later — but you can add a battery at any time in the future if your needs change or your budget allows.
-
Battery-only installations are a great solution when solar panels aren’t suitable — such as properties in conservation areas, listed buildings, or homes without favourable roof space. A home battery can work with time-of-use tariffs (Offered by Octopus Energy) to charge when electricity is cheaper and store it for use during peak periods, a process often called “time shifting”. This helps make your home’s energy use more flexible, even without having solar panels installed.
-
A combined solar-and-battery system gives you the best of both worlds: daytime generation from the sun, plus the ability to store any excess electricity for use later. This means you can rely on your own stored energy when you get home in the evening or during periods when your usage is higher than your solar production. It also allows you to take advantage of time-of-use charging like a battery-only system, giving you greater control and flexibility over how and when you use energy.
